Men arrested in Wetherby after chase

Two men have been arrested following a police pursuit into Wetherby.

North Yorkshire officers followed a vehicle on February 11 after the driver failed to stop when requested.

A spokesman for Wetherby police said: “The vehicle was driven in a dangerous and reckless manner in an attempt to lose the following police vehicle.

“The offending vehicle was then abandoned on the Glebe Field estate in Wetherby.”

Two men, aged 22 and 21, were arrested nearby and are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

Further police incidents in the Wetherby area include:

* Attempted burglary overnight February 6 and 7 when someone tried to force entry to a property on Barleyfields Lane, Wetherby. Damage was caused to the door and lock.

* At some point between February 8 and 10 vandals damaged paintwork on two vehicles parked on a private driveway on Oak Ridge, Wetherby.

* A 22-year-old man from the Barnsley area was arrested by police at a race meeting at Wetherby on February 6 after being found to be in possession of class A drugs.
