A drink driver was disqualified for 18 months by Harrogate Magistrates Court.

Joshua Jordan Barwick, 21, of no fixed address, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for possession of cannabis on the A61 in Pannal. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85, and magistrates ordered that the drug be forfeited and destroyed.

Bradley Bingham, 19, of 50 Gallows Hill, Ripon, was fined £225 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30, and was disqualified from driving for 18 months, to be reduced by 18 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Thomas Owen Lydon, 20, of 30 Ryefield Road, Eastfield, Scarborough, was given a 12-month community order for driving while under the influence of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) in Skipton Road, Harrogate. He was made subject to a three-month curfew and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for two years.

Jack Milner, 18, of Apartment F, 19 Blossomgate, Ripon, was fined £120 for driving without insurance in Bondgate Green, Ripon. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85, and six points were added to his licence. No separate penalty was imposed for failing to stop when required to do so by a police officer.

Samuel Tallentire, 23, of 23 Main Street, Ashley, Market Harborough, was fined £200 for obstructing a police officer in John Street, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85. No separate penalty was imposed for failing to comply with a no entry sign in John Street, but three points were added to his licence.

Julie Elaine Unwin, 24, of Flat 2, 147 Kings Road, Harrogate, was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60 for driving while under the influence of alcohol at Bond End, Knaresborough. She was disqualified from driving for one year, to be reduced by three months on completion of an approved course.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on June 8:

Barrie Iveson Liddle, 76, of Upper Dale View, Old Church Lane, Pateley Bridge, was given a two-year conditional discharge for owning a dog which worried sheep on land at Springfield Grange in Old Church Lane in June 2015. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £200.

Darren Alfred Crowther, 43, of no fixed address, was given two prison sentences of two months each, suspended for 12 months, for wilful and persistent failure to comply with previous community orders. He was ordered to pay costs of £40.

Michael Patrick Wallage, 48, of 5 The Garth, Saxon Gardens, Leeds, was given a 12-month community order for stealing a bicycle worth £480.99 belonging to another man at Asda in Harrogate. He was ordered to complete 260 hours of unpaid work , and to pay compensation of £480.99, costs of £420 and a victim surcharge of £60.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on June 9:

Paul Anthony Marlow, 35, of 1A St Luke’s Close, Harrogate, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for assaulting a woman by beating her. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

Tracy Parcell, 46, of 30A King Edwards Drive, Harrogate, was given a 12-month community order for dishonestly failing to notify Harrogate Borough Council of a change in circumstances affecting entitlement to housing benefit, namely failing to declare increases in her and her husband’s income. She was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £100. A previous sentence imposed by magistrates was set aside.
