Food festival heads back to Harewood House in May

Great British Food Festival is heading back to Harewood House on the May Bank Holiday.

The event, from May 29-31, is the first lined up by the organisers since the easing of lockdown restrictions.

One of the organisers, Daniel Maycock said they can’t wait to be back out doing events.

“I think we can all agree last year was rubbish, and the events industry was hit pretty hard – we had to cancel our whole year of events, and as a small company that was a real blow.

“I also felt really sorry for a lot of our stalls holders, who could no longer sell their products at markets and events, as well as all our suppliers – small, local companies that we use to bring in things like site power, toilets, and stewarding, were all really badly hit, but we are excited to be back, we hope people will want to come out and support events again.

“We are just really looking forward to seeing people again and feeling that atmosphere which only comes from live events.”

The line-up usually includes around 100 Best of British producers and street food vendors, celebrity chef demos, talks, kids cookery lessons, live music, a competitions and a new Grow your Own Stage.

Daniel added the event has achieved the ‘Good to Go’ Covid accreditation.

“We are doing everything required and more to make the events Covid secure.”

“We have the ‘Good to Go’ award and have implemented a number of changes for this year, such as advanced ticket sales only at our early events, timed slot entry, one way systems, hand sanitiser stations around site and extra cleaning staff on site.

“We feel we have made the events really safe, best of all they are all outside in the fresh air, so people can relax and enjoy the surroundings with some great food and drink.”
