Review: Youcef Preston, Crown Hotel, Harrogate.

A SPECIAL night for fans of Harrogate singer Youcef Preston at the Crown Hotel.

Not only is it the launch of the long-awaited four track EP, titled You and I, recorded at Active Audio Studio in Harrogate with superb production skills of Dan Mizen, but also the first time many of the 250 plus crowd had seen Youcef play with a full band.

Supported by a line-up of fine young local talent, worthy of special mention on the bill is beautiful songstress Farrah.

With stunning vocals, this young Harrogate lady has superb stage presence and a voice to rival Adele with the edge of Amy Winehouse. Farrah is definitely a singer to look out for.

Earlier in the week at rehearsals, Youcef’s band were sounding good. Tonight they sound even better.

Their mere teenage years meant nothing as they took to the stage and played as though they had been there for more years than they had been on the planet.

The material on Youcef’s new EP was well-received, as was the collection of more familiar tunes from his own pen plus a few crowd pleasing covers.

This young man has talent and, with the power of the band behind him, it adds a whole new dimension.

A band that You and I will continue to enjoy.
