Phoenix Players set for Curtains up

A shocked cast are set to gather round the crime scene in Curtains, the Harrogate Phoenix Players’ latest production.

With its long association with crime writing and murder mysteries, Harrogate would seem the ideal venue for this hilarious spoof whodunit by Kander and Ebb. If you love Chicago and Cabaret, Curtains looks set to be another success for the Phoenix Players.

Set in Boston, Curtains follows the fortunes and misfortunes of a band of thespians and the star-struck detective who arrives to investigate the suspicious death of their tone-deaf leading lady.

Everyone is less appalled by her death than they were by her singing and in the best theatrical tradition; the show must go on!

The score is provided by songwriting team Kander and Ebb, the duo behind Cabaret and Chicago.

With murder, blackmail, romance, humour and intrigue, Curtains promises something for everyone.

Tickets for Curtains are now on sale at Harrogate Theatre 01423 502116 or online at

The players will donate 50p from every ticket sold to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The show runs from January 24-26 at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
