The year may not have quite ended yet but the first big names for next year’s Leeds Festival have already been announced.
Fans of the annual musical extravaganza at Bramham Park can look forward to the following acts: Blink-182 playing their only UK show of 2014, Jake Bugg, Disclosure and Metronomy.
Blink-182 first played Reading and Leeds in 1999 and wowed the main stage when they headlined in 2010.
Jake Bugg made his debut on the Festival Republic Stage in 2012 before his number one debut album had even been released and will be playing tracks from Shangri La, produced by the legendary Rick Rubin.
Disclosure, the most successful British dance act in a generation, soared to the top of the charts with their debut album Settle and have sold out venues across the world in the past 12 months.
Quintessentially English, modern pop act, Metronomy saw their new track I’m Aquarius’ recently enjoy 120,000 SoundCloud plays in a matter of hours.
Their new album Love Letters, recorded at the famous Toe Rag studios, is due for releases in March 2014.
Festival boss Melvin Benn said: “I know our fans will be delighted to welcome back our first headliners, Blink-182, with what promises to be an amazing show, as well as the brilliant Jake Bugg stepping up to the main stage.
“I can’t wait to reveal the rest of our incredible line-up.”
The event has added more stages in recent years to broaden its range of musical genres.
Next year’s event continues its move into hardcore rock, dance, grime and hip hop with acts already confirmed such as Mice & Men, Wilkinson and I Am Legion.
Benn will certainly be hoping for no repeat of the dreadful weather conditions which turned the most recent Leeds Festival into a mudbath.
