Despite the tremendous success of its Massed Choir Concert at the Royal Hall, Harrogate Male Voice Choir has not been resting on its laurels with a series of concerts including a Tour de France special.

They are now into rehearsals for a more modest but still tantalising concert, this time joining with The Ripon City Band for a evening full of music and song.

The Spring Concert will take place in Holy Trinity Church on Ripon on Saturday, March 22.

Malcolm Dibb, musical director of Ripon City is putting together a full programme of music while Harrogate Male Voice Choir’s managing director Anthea Shepherdson is brightening up the choir’s repertoire to include some interesting new numbers as well as bringing back a few old favourites.

The choir have numbers from Cole Porter and Jerome Kerne; a wonderful arrangement from John Rutter as well as one of the best-loved James Bond signature tunes, originally sung by the unmistakable Shirley Bassey – Goldfinger.

There will be the re-introduction of a past choir favourite, not sung for many years – 76 Trombones and a modern favourite in Robbie Williams’s multi-million pound best-seller – Angels.

Whilst rehearsing hard for this concert Harrogate Male Voice Choir have also found that they have been accepted as one of the Harrogate Festival Fringe events, part of this year’s build up to this year’s Tour de France Grand Départ in Harrogate on July 5-6

This will be another joint concert on Saturday, May 31, this time with guests The Romsey Male Voice Choir from Kent as part of their weekend singing visit to Yorkshire.
