Gig Scene hears that the Royal Hall Restoration Trust are hoping to stage a fundraising concert to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles, writes Graham Chalmers.

We’re sort of hoping that the event will find space to include members of the two Harrogate bands who supported John, Paul, George and Ringo at the Royal Hall back in March 1963 - Barry Corbett and his Mustangs and Ricky Fenton and The Apaches.

Scotton near Knaresborough has an anniversary concert set up already, featuring top tribute band The Fab Beatles in the village hall on Saturday, March 16.

Tickets are on sale at Pear Music, High Street, Knaresborough or by telephoning01423 864120 or from Scotton Village Hall on 01423 862061.

Fans of Smokie can catch the band behind Living Next Door To Alice and a dozen other hits in the 70s and 80s at Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough shortly courtesy of Kula promoters.

Now called the Spirit of Smokie, sadly, I made a mistake in last week’s Gig Scene and got the date of this Frazer Theatre fundraiser wrong.

The concert will take place on February 17.

Tickets from Pear Music or online at Kula.
