He’s one of Britain’s finest songwriters - and voices - and is rated so highly that no less a musical legend than Jimmy Webb asked him to appear on his new duets album but Del Amitri frontman Justin Currie doesn’t seem to realise what a success he is.
Talking to me on the phone from Glasgow on the eve of his forthcoming solo tour which takes in Harrogate, he revealed: “I only realised our album Waking Hours had sold over a million in Britain the other week. We knew it went platinum when it was first released, which is 300, 000, but I had no idea it had kept on selling.”
