Wetherby rugby club made it a year unbeaten with a fifteenth straight league victory of the season on Saturday.

This time Wensleydale were the unfortunate visitors to Grange Park as the Reds dominated the fixture and claimed a 36-10 bonus point victory.

It now means Wetherby lead Yorkshire Four by 20 points, with a trip to third placed Mosborough up next. A victory would put the Reds within sight of automatic promotion.

Wensleydale were quicker out of the blocks Saturday and their forwards reward came on the tenth minute with a converted try. It sounded a wake up call for the Reds and they hit back six minutes later with a try created by Andy Trotman’s break, teasing the opposition with his footwork to put Conor Sheriden in for a converted try.

Some great handling and a superb final pass by Sheriden then put Barney Roberts in to score before Sheriden scored a fine try himself just before the break.

Soon after half time, the Reds pulled off another smart move involving several dummy runners from which Trotman scored.

With the home forwards in the ascendancy Elliot Griffiths then stole the ball in a maul and broke through. AJ Hills was up in support linking with the ever alert fly-half Sheriden who completed his hat-trick.

Wensleydale came back with a good try out wide after sustained pressure. But the Reds had the final say when, after several thrusts, Will Jefferson went over.
