Victory for the Year 7 rugby union boys at Tadcaster Grammar School is now within their grasp as the team reaches the final of the Yorkshire Cup.
A 10-5 win against Harrogate’s St John Fisher School has confirmed their place against The Kings School, Pontefract.
The boys missed out on the opportunity of a double final when they were narrowly defeated 26-22 on Tuesday March 3 at home to Brigshaw in the Rugby League Cup.
“The boys had played both codes of rugby from September and hadn’t lost a single match until their defeat last night which is most commendable,” said coach and PE teacher, Craig Whish.
“They had worked extremely hard to adapt their skills set to both codes of rugby and reach both semi-finals,” he added.
The Yorkshire Cup Final will be held at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield on Saturday 21 March 21, kick off 10.30am.
“I am incredibly proud of my boys’ achievement and wish them every success in their quest to lift the trophy,” said Mr Whish.
