Event 11 of the Fulford Cycles Time Trial League was two laps of the Milby-Norton Le Clay circuit.

After the first lap, the peerless Steve Smales of Boneshakers was on course to break his own course record with 19:51. New Nova recruit and former UK age-group Ironman champion Mark Livesey was second fastest with 20:53. Nova’s Duncan Mullier posted the third fastest lap with 21:08. Amazingly, Smales equalled his course record with 42:00 after his second lap. Mullier managed a faster second lap but missed out on second Livsey by a single second with 42:11 and 42:12. The school-boy course record was broken by Bobbin Gardener. The ladies competition sa Nova’s Joanne Ketteringham break the course record in 47:30 ahead of Corinne Mitchell 50:07 and Alison Sarmiento 52:49. The previous weekend several riders joined 80 starters in the YCF 50 mile TT on the A19. Duncan Mullier was within two seconds of last week’s 50 results with 1:52:43 in fifth place but YRC’s Ian Fairweather improved to 1:50:21 in third. Joanne Ketteringham completed her first 50 miler in a 2:10:46.

Edwyn Oliver-Evans, represented the Great Britain Mountainbike Orienteering team at the 5-day stage race in Fontainebleau, France.

With the area famous for dense woodland, riding and navigating were both very demanding.

The Boneshakers rider went on to win two of five races, taking two second places.

His results sealed victory by seven minutes.

Next month, Oliver-Evans heads to the World Championships, in Hungary.
