Harrogate Nova schoolboy cyclist Bobbin Gardner scored an impressive podium position after coming second in the East Scotland Cycling Association Mountain Bike Championships in Glentress Forest.

The multi-day event composed of three events on day one.

The first event was a ten mile cross-country race and after a mistake at the start, Bobbin had to chase hard to come home in second place.

The second event was a hill climb where Bobbin, despite riding the course for the first time, finished in third place.

The final event on day one was a fast downhill with Bobbin finishing in second place again.

Day two began with a two-lap time trial and another second place made a second place overall a virtual certainty.

The final event of the weekend was a six-lap criterium race where Bobbin yet again finished second to confirm his second place overall.

Nova’s Duncan Mullier travelled to Derbyshire to compete in the Plan-B Racing 30-mile Time Trial with the aim of breaking Nova’s 15-year-old record.

And he did so in style, knocking a whopping 1:44 off it to record a new record of 1:05:45. www.harrogatenova.com.
