With temperatures only a few degrees above freezing, record rainfall creating muddy conditions and heavy showers on the way, Ripon Runners were delighted with the turnout at their annual hosting of the Jolly Holly Jog.
The 10k mostly off road race started and finshed on Hell Wath playing fields while taking in much of Studley Royal deer park en route. The race was won by Nidd Valley’s Lee Dalton in an impressive time of 36.30 given the slippery conditions and Becky Penty of York Acorn won the ladies race in 39.42. A few of Ripon’s runners made use of home advantage with Anthony Jefford first of Ripon’s finishers in 12th position in 39.40. He was followed by Joe Lofthouse 43.42, Donna Riddler 46.20, Emma Fawcett 47.18, Jo Hope 52.06, Sian Foster 1.03.58, Hilary Gilliam 1.11.19 and Juile Merrin 1.11.23.
