Wetherby Athletic boss Mark Forster has cast doubt on whether four former stars will return to the Ings.
Brothers Joe and Josh Barden, right-back Joe Wilkes and striker Charlie Yates left Wetherby in pre-season to hook up with former U21s coach Ben Lawrence at Northern Counties East League Premier side Brigg Town.
However, the Lincolnshire side have struggled in the early months of the season and lie rock bottom with only seven points from 17 matches.
The Zebras manager Andy Foster resigned last month and the new management team Paul Grimes and Scott Helliwell have made an instant transformation of the squad, leaving the ex-Wetherby players out in the cold.
But Forster said it would be “difficult” to welcome them straight back into his first team .
He said: “I don’t know what the boys’ plans are. They took the decision to move to Brigg hoping it would work there.
“Then the manager loses his job and immediately there’s a change of personnel.
“They are all very good players and Wetherby lads, but I don’t know if they would come back.
“We have to move on, if they come back, we will have to see.
“We have a fantastic first team, a great bunch of lads that it’s a pleasure to spend Saturday afternoons with.
“I don’t think we have ever had a tighter dressing room.
“I didn’t want any of the Wetherby boys to go to Brigg, but they have gone and made their beds to some degree.”
