The replica shirts have been bought, the sticker albums completed and the John Barnes’ rap memorised as pubs and bars across our district prepare for World Cup fever.
England face Italy on Saturday June 14 at 11pm in their first Group D encounter.
The Alexandra in Harrogate have ensured every member of staff is on hand for the game as a capacity crowd is expected to pack out the bar.
Deputy Manager, Nick Dawson said: “I’m sure that a lot of places will reach their capacity because everybody wants to watch.”
“It will be an incredible atmosphere because the football will create another wave of people flooding in at 11 o’clock. I’m really excited for it.
Knaresborough’s Hart Bar are also busy adorning walls with flags as they prepare for a party atmosphere.
Manager Tom Gootesaid: “It’s going to be packed in every pub come Saturday night, probably the busiest it’s ever been for an England game, unless we reach the final. In that case it’s free beer for everyone!”
