The ding-dong battle between Rawdon Old Boys and Kirk Deighton Rangers in the Harrogate and District Premier reaches a head on Saturday.

The pair will come to blows in a potential title-decider locked together on 37 points at the top.

Rangers boss Dan Marshall feels victory either way would not settle the title duel. “It’s all set up nicely for Saturday,” he said.

Rangers required a last minute Graham Cowgill header to put them alongside Rawdon at the top on Saturday, when they edged past lowly Beckwithshaw Saints 1-0 at Barr Field.

Meanwhile, Clifford rose up to fourth with a 4-2 win over Wetherby Athletic A. Tom Deighton opened the scoring with a penalty after Gerard McCargo was tumbled. Dave Whittaker nodded home a Deighton corner to double the lead.

Wetherby struck back before Deighton got his second just before half time.

Wetherby scored a penalty of their own after the break before Sam O’Brien marauded forward to settle any of Clifford’s nerves.

Harlow Hill edged Kirkby Malzeard 5-4 to reach the League Challenge Cup semi-final, alongside Knaresborough Celtic who hammered seven past Burley Trojans.
