Harrogate Harriers are toasting a success after clinching the Harrogate and District Summer Race League prize.
While victory was secured at the fourth event of the season at the Dragons Running Club, the Harriers waited until after the final event in Ripon earlier this month to celebrate glory.
The Harriers led throughout the competition and took the overall prize as well as the men’s team, and supervets categories.
Mike Burrett collected individual honours as he took gold for three race victories.
Burrett won the second, third and fourth races of the series to take first place ahead of teammate Andy Grant in silver.
Ben Grant claimed first place in the men’s veterans over 60s and Sarah Gill first in the female over 50s.
Young runner Ed Beecher completed the Harriers haul in the under 18 classification.
Club spokesman Jo Wallace said: “The club had an excellent turnout for the entirety of the Harrogate & District Summer Racing League and were rewarded with fabulous results both for teams and individuals.”
Several athletes headed to the Burton Leonard 10k on Sunday, with runners from the Harriers (HH), Knaresborough Striders (KS), Ripon Runners (RR) and Nidd Valley Road Runners (NVRR) all shaping up on the start line.
The race was the first mob match between the Striders and Nidd Valley, with the latter taking home the shield with a big winning margin.
Fifteen Harriers, 11 Ripon Runners, 16 Nidd Valley Road Runners, 17 Striders competed in the muggy, muddy and undulating race.
Andy Grant continued his fine summer race league form to storm away with victory in 36 minutes - more than two minutes ahead of Nidd Valley’s Lee Dalton (38.14) in second.
Ben Campbell was the Striders top athlete, as he raced home in fifth in 42.20.
Harrier Wendy Marks (47.30) finished as the second woman after surging around the course in 23rd place overall.
Other notable finishers included: Martin Lofthouse (NVRR, sixth in 43.19), Andy Todd (NVRR, 44.12), Mike Deacon (NVRR, 44.48), Simon Watson (HH, 13th in 45:07), Anthony Wamsley (Striders, 46.15), Andy Robinson (Striders 47.22), Gary Wilks (RR, 47.02), Dave Askew (HH 47.55) and Sarah Gill (HH, third lady and 27th in 48:36).
Meanwhile, Harriers coach Ian Rowbotham finished 11th and best over 50 at the 5.5-mile Stirton Fell Race near Skipton.
Harriers Martyn and Helen Price travelled to the North Yorkshire Moors on Saturday to compete in the Osmotherley Phoenix Off-Road ultra marathon.
Martyn sliced over an hour off his 2013 time to finish 24th overall in 6.46.18.
Helen put in a superb run to finish second in the ladies’ race in 6:22:42.
Six intrepid Nidd Valley Runners attended the Wharfedale TTT and Tim Harvey came back eighth in 1.48.55.
Carol Morgan claimed the ladies gold in 2.19.51.
