Members of the Rotary Club of Lower Wharfedale marked World Red Cross Day with a collection in Wetherby’s Morrisons Supermarket and raised £510.52.
Spokesman Mike Bowers said: “We have all seen images in our newspapers and on TV of the terrible earthquake and the loss of human life in Nepal.
“It was appreciated that this year the public gave more than last year for a worthy cause.
“We have, as a local Rotary Club, collected well in excess of £1,600 over the past four years for what is now an annual event for the club.
“This giving is much appreciated for such a worthy and life saving cause. Many thanks to the public and to Morrisons for enabling us to collect.”
