The popular Hardraw Scar Brass Festival organised by Yorkshire and Humberside Brass Band Association is to feature in yet another television programme.
For the past three years the festival has been featured in various TV programmes and the 2011 contest is no exception.
And the Wetherby Silver Band featured in Hardraw Scar 2011 which was filmed for the BBC to be included in a new series of programmes about the British countryside starting on February 16.
The contest will be included in the Yorkshire programme of The Great British Countryside to be transmitted on BBC1 on Thursday, February 23 at 8pm. Wetherby won the top award.
A spokesperson for the Association commented “It is most encouraging that Hardraw Scar contest has had a resurgence of interest in the past few years with more bands entering and greater audience numbers. The venue presents brass bands and the beautiful Yorkshire countryside at it’s best and being featured on television has brought this typical county contest to a much wider audience. We understand items from Harrogate, Wetherby Silver and Otley bands will be featured on the show”
At this festival Wetherby Silver Band won the top award for their performance of ‘An original composition for Brass Band written in the last 40 years’
