‘Prepare for disruption’ - Met Office issue weather warning

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for large parts of the UK including North Yorkshire, as the tail end of Hurricane Gonzola is expected to hit tomorrow.

Tonight (Monday) will see we and windy conditions across the UK, forecasters say, with the strongest winds expected on Tuesday morning.

Gusts exceeding 55 mph are likely inland, with 60 to 70 mph gusts in some exposed coastal areas in the west.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel and possible damage to trees.

“Difficult driving conditions will result, perhaps exacerbated by surface water and spray in places.”
