The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in the district from 6am on Wednesday, November 27 to 6am on Thursday, November 28.

The tail end of tropical storm Sebastien is set to hit the country tomorrow (Tuesday), with wet weather travelling north on Wednesday.

The Met Office has said rain will turn heavy and prolonged at times leading to a risk of flooding in places.

A statement on the Met Office website reads: "Rain is expected to become more persistent during Wednesday and turn heavy at times. Many areas are likely to receive 20-30 mm of rain, with a few locations over higher parts of the Pennines and North Yorkshire Moors having 50 mm. The location of the heaviest and most persistent rainfall is still somewhat uncertain and the warning may be updated in the coming days."
