Cyclist seriously injured in collision with lorry in York

A CYCLIST was flown to hospital by air ambulance  after she was seriously injured in a collision with a lorry in York.

The 25-year-old woman from the York area is in a serious condition at Leeds General Infirmary after she collided with a blue Jewson's lorry at the junction of James Street and Hazel Court in York at around 8am today. (Weds March 8)

The lorry was turning left from Hazel Court onto James Street and the cyclist was travelling along James Street towards Lawrence Street, when the collision happened..

The lorry driver did not sustain any injuries.

The road was closed until 1pm to allow police to examine the scene and the vehicles involved.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the Jewson’s lorry or cyclist who was riding a mountain cycle approaching the junction to contact them on 101 and speak to TC1532 Harrison of the Tadcaster Road Policing Group. Please quote reference 12170038948.
