Boston Spa Methodist Church’s first community event of 2015 was hailed as a great success by organisers and patrons.
The Burns Night dinner at Clifford saw a tartan-clad piper pipe the diners into the supper room to a medley of rousing Scottish bagpipe music, setting the scene for a wonderful evening.
Following the Selkirk Grace, a traditional Burns supper, including cock-a-leekie soup, haggis with bashed neeps and champit tatties, finishing with tipsy trifle, was served to the guests.
The Address to the Haggis was dramatically delivered to a delighted audience.
Then it was time to take to the floor for the Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant and other favourite reels.
“What a wonderful evening,” said Rev Steve Jakeman.
“It’s great to see everybody enjoying themselves.”
All proceeds from the evening will go to B4G Development Project to refurbish and update Boston Spa Methodist Church.
