Wetherby Baptist Church and the Salvation Army have joined forces to try to ensure that every local needy child will receive a gift this year.
Toys collected for the annual Toy Appeal will go directly to those who need them, organisers have assured this week.
“Many people like the idea of sharing what they have with others, but it can be hard to know how,” said a spokesman.
“Here is an opportunity to make a difference in this area.
“We believe that this is Christian love in action.”
Quite a few shops in Wetherby and Tadcaster have agreed to act as collection points, including the Wetherby News offices.
These shops carry the distinctive logo for the Toy Appeal.
Alternatively, gifts can be left with Wetherby Baptist Church members in the Garden of Rest every Saturday from November 19 until December 10.
See the website for ideas for suitable gifts (unwrapped).
