New Age Kurling: A group for people with memory problems and their helpers now takes place in Tadcaster Leisure Centre on the second Tuesday of each month between 1-3pm, arranged by the Alzheimers Society and costs just £2 per session. New Age Kurling is similar to the game played on ice but without requiring the floor of the centre to be frozen over. Yvonne on 01757 241060 will supply more information.
Kelcbar Events: Tomorrow, Friday, August 10 there will be a coffee morning with raffle starting at 10.30am. The regular Wednesday bingo and hairdresser is at 7.30pm and next Thursday, August 16 a social with afternoon tea is planned.
Creative Writing: Starting tomorrow, Friday, August 10 and for the next three weeks there is to be a Creative Writing Workshop for age seven plus. The first two sessions will be held at Tadcaster Riverside School with the third session taking the format of a picnic in the grounds of Tadcaster Grammar School. Summer Food Fest: The family of schools have also arranged a Summer Food Fest for youngsters aged eight to 14 years and this will take place at the Grammar School between Monday, August 13 and Wednesday, August 15. The cost is £45 which includes all ingredients. For an extra £7.50 there will also be a breakfast club offered. Details as above.
Art Mural: Youngsters age 13+ will be busy between Monday, August 13 and Wednesday, August 15 creating an Art Mural at Tadcaster Grammar School and this costs £30 which includes all art materials. As with the Food Fest there will also be a breakfast club available for an additional £7.50. Joe Knowles Handicap: Next Thursday, August 16 members of Tadcaster Harriers running club will be taking part in the Joe Knowles Handicap run of some 5.1 miles of the old course meeting at 7.30pm on Garnet Lane.
Winning Ringers: The Bell Ringers of Tadcaster St Mary’s Church recently took part in the Selby Branch of the Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers Striking Competition at Kippax where they travelled to straight from ringing for a wedding at St Mary’s. They carried on to win the round and will now be going onto the Yorkshire Finals on September 15.
Open Door Cafe: Tadcaster Methodist Church’s Open Door Cafe will again be opening its doors on Saturday, August 11 from 9.30am-1.30pm when a wide variety of snacks and light meals will be on offer.
Sisterhood: The Sisterhood of Tadcaster Methodist Church meet on Monday, August 13 at 2.15pm at the chapel. The Sisterhood meet on the second Monday of each month at 2.15pm when all ladies are invited to join them.
Rainbow through Rain: On the third Wednesday of each month between 2-3.30pm in the Boys Sunday School, Rainbow Through Rain will help find hope in bereavement, when those affected are invited to drop in for afternoon tea. For details contact 01937 530735.
