Youngsters from five Sherburn and Tadcaster area schools recently came together to take part in a writing workshop with former The Christians musician Henry Priestman.
Talented Year Six writers from Tadcaster Riverside Primary, Appleton Roebuck and Monk Fryston were chosen by staff at the school for the Able Writers Programme.
During the writing day, the pupils worked with Henry to create their own lyrics, which were then set to music and performed to the group, complete with actions.
Ian Yapp, headteacher of Riverside Community School, said: “We were incredibly impressed by how well the final day of this year’s Able Writer’s Group has gone.
“The pupils bonded together wonderfully, working in collaborative teams with pupils from other schools.
“The work produced showed a superb level of ability. We look forward to working with new pupils and new authors next academic year.”
