Messy Church: This afternoon, Thursday, July 26 there will be another “Messy Church” taking place in the Boys sunday School starting at 3.30pm. This joint venture between St Mary’s and Tadcaster Methodist church starts with a lively 45 minutes of crafts before going across to the church for a time of worship and reflection before returning to the Sunday school for a shared simple meal.

Seaside Trip: Hopefully the weather will be fine today, Thursday, July 26 for the Tadcaster and Sherburn Family of Schools visit to the seaside at Scarborough. The Family of Schools have also arranged a Step Into Sports week from Monday, July 3 until Friday, August 3 for youngsters aged 11 to 14 years where in partnership with Selby Leisure Services the secondary school children will be able to have a go at different sports as well as making new friends. The week costs £15 per place through the Family of Schools at Rose Cottage, Tadcaster Grammar School phone 01937 837614 email partnership@tadcaster.n-yorks.sch.uk Also the Weekly Tennis club for seven to 14 year olds continues at the Grammar School on Wednesdays from 10am-noon and this costs £5 per session.

Tad Jive: Tomorrow evening in the Riley Smith hall another Tad Jive Freestyle session takes place from 8pm until midnight. DJ Gary B will be providing the music to dance to and the licenced bar will also be open. No need to book, pay on the door.

Carnival DVD: A DVD of Tadcaster’s Diamond Jubilee Carnival has been produced and is now available to purchase by pre order at a cost of £5 from the Ark council office in Kirkgate which is open from 9.30am-12.30pm Tuesday to Thursday. Proceeds from the sale will go towards funding of future similar events.

Kelcbar Coffee: Tomorrow Friday, July 27 at the Kelcbar Community Centre there is to be a coffee morning and raffle which starts at 10.30am. This will be followed by a pre-booked lunch at 12.15pm. On Friday the chat with Marylin begins at 2pm and on Wednesday the regular bingo and hairdresser evening starts at 7.30pm.

Dancetime: Neil and Betty Roberts will once again be holding their Dancetime in the Riley Smith hall on Sunday, July 29 from 8-11pm with the doors opening at 7.30pm. Dances will include ballroom, sequence, Latin American and jive. No need to book, just pay £5 on the door.

Racenight: Tadcaster Magnets sports and social club are holding a Racenight in their clubhouse on Friday, July 27 starting at 7.30pm. Hosts will be John Wetherill, Andy Shann and Paddy Greenwood. There will be race prizes of £100 and tickets costing £3 which includes a pie and pea supper are available from behind the club’s bar, but do sell out fast.

Snorkelling Course: Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool are holding a three day Snorkelling Course from Tuesday, July 31 until Thursday, August 2 between 10-11am. The course is for youngsters aged eight and over who are able to swim 200 meters and be confident under water and costs £30. The pool will be operating to its summer school holiday programme so check before travelling. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the very popular Crazy Fun sessions take place between 2-3.30pm and costs £3. Benfice Evensong: On Sunday, July 29 there will be a Joint Benifice Evensong in St Andrew’s church, Newton Kyme starting at 6pm. Holy communion in Tadcaster St Mary’s church is at 10.30am.
