All Saints Church Spofforth: the service on Sunday, November 18 will be holy communion at 10.30am.

Household waste collection: at Spofforth will be on Friday, November 16.

Spofforth Seniors: will meet for coffee, cake or biscuits and a chat at the Long Memorial Hall on Thursday, November 20 from 10-11.30am. All residents over 50 are welcome. Just £2 per session entitles members to discounts on the senior’s lunch and trips with the travel club. The senior’s lunch will be on Wednesday, November 21 at the Castle pub from noon-2.30pm. Spofforth School: congratulate Bryony Hutton and Matthew Bird on joining Joe Johnson as new school ambassadors. Joe is in his final year and two previous ambassadors have moved on to secondary school. As well as meeting with the head teacher and other pupils to discuss ways to improve the school the trio will liaise with pupils from other schools in the area to share ideas on fund raising, joint projects and improvements.

A Christmas workshop: and demonstration by professional florist Pam Hammett will be held at Spofforth Cricket Club, School Lane on Thursday, December 6, 10am-4pm. The cost of £50 will include cost of flowers and sundries. Tea/coffee and lunch with a glass of Christmas cheer will also be provided. Decorative wreaths, candle arrangements and much more will be demonstrated by Pam and you should be able to take home two completed items. Attendance will be limited to 12 only, so please ring Pam on 07908 159901 to book your place as soon as possible.

Spofforth with Stockeld Parish Council: will meet on Tuesday, November 20 at 7.30pm in the Long Memorial Hall. The council pass on their congratulations to the Spofforth in Bloom team for winning the gold award in the Britain in Bloom competition and being named by The Royal Horticultural Society as ‘best village in Britain.’ They also reiterate their thanks to Heather Pollard for her dedication to her duties as cleaner for the Long Memorial Hall for over 30 years.
