Singing farmers

One of Yorkshire's best-known charity fund-raising concerts is coming to an end after 13 years.

The Singing Farmers have raised over £100,000 since 2004 and their final concert of the Farewell Tour will take place on Sunday May 22, 2.30pm, at Tadcaster’s Riley Smith Hall.

“It has been a wonderful experience,” said organiser and one of the five singers Chris Berry. “We started with the aim of just doing one year but we’ve gone on for years and have released seven CDs in that time.

“We’re really hoping that everyone will come along to our last ever concert. We’re playing five concerts in all, but it would be great to see Riley Smith Hall full for the last one. We really want to go out with a bang.”

The Singing Farmers raise funds for the RABI – Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. To order tickets, £14, send a cheque marked payable to RABI along with a stamped addressed envelope to: Singing Farmers Tickets Final Concert Tadcaster, 2 Elmete Croft, Scholes, Leeds LS15 4BE.
