Daytones Harmony Chorus handed over a cheque for £1,150 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The money was raised by the chorus at several events throughout 2011.

These included a spring event at Morrisons in Wetherby, at the Victoria Centre in Harrogate and two Christmas performances at Crossgates Shopping Centre and again at Morrisons.

A club spokesman said: “Thanks to the generosity of the public the club has now been able to donate over £4,000 to the charity and would like to thank the public for their support.”

The Daytones are a group of retired men who enjoy the fun of singing and have appeared at the Wetherby Arts Festival.

They regularly sing for clubs and societies.

They rehearse at Clifford Village Hall every Tuesday from 10am-noon.

Four new members have recently joined the club and there is an open invitation to any man who would like to join.

All sheet music and learning CDs are provided.

“Don’t hold back just because you think you can’t sing,” added the spokesman.

“You will be surprised at what can be achieved.”
