Sicklinghall Village Hall: a reminder that there will be a St Patrick’s Dance on Saturday, March 16 in the village hall. An evening of fun is assured, with games, music, singing and dancing. Tickets are now available at £15 each and include a hot supper. For more information look at the events page on the village hall web site. This is a fund raising event to help bring the hall up-to-date with improvements to the building and its facilities. To help achieve these objectives, the committee is currently preparing a detailed application for a Biffa Award.
Sicklinghall Parish Council: is keeping the residents of Sicklinghall up to date on local news, thanks to their new web site. Information on the progress of the planning application for a wind turbine at Paddock House Lane is recorded, plus the delay in the building of affordable housing in the village. This is due to a change in purchaser. Yorkshire Housing is now the new owner rather than HOME. Volunteers are required to paint the railings of Low Flush Pond and also the telephone kiosk as this is now the responsibility of the parish council, when they adopted it for £1! If anyone has any spare time to help with these jobs, it would be much appreciated. The next parish council meeting will be held in the village hall on March 21 at 7.30pm.
Sicklinghall Book Club: will meet in the Scott’s Arms on Tuesday, March 19 at 8.30pm. The book for discussion this month is Tiny Sun Birds Far Away by Christie Watson.
The Scotts Arms: has been rejuvenated on the outside with a classic, stylish colour scheme and also on the inside, as the Scotts Arms team invite everyone to come and see their newly refurbished function suite.
