Sherburn High School pupils spent the run up to the festive holidays donating food and collecting money to make Christmas hampers to hand out to 40 local residents.
Each form group made up their own hamper, some including gifts and Christmas cards to add a personal touch.
The students also raised £170 which is to be divided between the care homes and drop in centres around Sherburn in Elmet.
The hampers were decorated in Christmas paper and were personally delivered by students much to the delight of the recipients who were nominated in secret so there were a number of surprised and happy members of our local community.
Organiser John Bagshaw, Head of Design Technology, said: “The students did a magnificent job not only of making up the hampers but also of representing Sherburn High within the community.
“I feel very proud of their efforts.”
