Knit and Natter Group: because the village hall is having a major refurbishment and redecoration the Knit and Natter group are having a break until October. Before the summer recess they enjoyed a lunch in the hall and lots of nattering. The group will start again on October 7. If you would like to join the group you will be more than welcome you don’t have to be able to knit but come along for a jolly afternoon and make new friends. It has been suggested that the group branch out into cookery classes on a self-help basis but that is open to discussion. However the ladies have been quite busy with the knitting and have sent 80 jumpers to Africa for the Fish and Chip babies and now have a box of baby cardigans to be sent to some other worthwhile charity, when we can find an outlet. It has also been decided to send a donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance from the money raised throughout the year and at the coffee morning held in April. So a donation of £240 will be sent to the Air Ambulance.

Shadwell Village Hall: the village hall will be closed for the whole of August. The hall is to be completely redecorated and the floor in the main hall will be stripped and treated. There are also plans to decorate the small meeting room and new carpets will be fitted there and in the entrance. The means of course there will have to be major fund-raising and two events are being planned for the Autumn. One aimed at the ladies, a fashion show and afternoon tea in October and there are also plans for a race night in October. Further information when this is available.
