Centenary Dinner: a dinner is to be held on Saturday, November 10 in the village hall, Shadwell, starting at 7.30pm. It is to celebrate the anniversary of Shadwell Parish leaving the Wetherby Rural District Council to become part of Leeds in 1912. It is also an opportunity to launch the new Local History Group. The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Coun Ann Castle is the guest of honour together with her husband the Lord Mayor’s Consort. The history group are organising a display of Shadwell past and there will be a quiz to keep people busy during the evening. If this is not enough entertainment Kevin Grady, the Director of Leeds Civic Trust is to give a talk and he will, maybe. be able to answer the question Why did Shadwell leave WDC. Tickets cost £15 and this is for a three course meal with a glass of bucks fizz on arrival. The meal is either pate or melon and prawns to start with followed by either roast beef and yorkshire pudding or salmon with the usual seasonal vegetables. There will be a choice of desserts. When ordering your tickets you will be asked for your menu choice in order to help with catering. This will be an evening not to miss so book early, tickets are limited and they are selling fast.
