Search for Gareth Malone of own

Wetherby-based St James’ Gospel Choir is looking for a Gareth Malone of their own.

The group is singing out for a new choir master after Lizzie McEnaney stood down, due to work commitments, from leading the group after over seven years at the helm.

“We are an informal group of enthusiastic ladies of various abilities that meet regularly and perform at charitable events and in church on an ad hoc basis,” said Lizzie.

“We really need someone with musical ability to come in and give us fun direction.

“If you can spare some time to ‘save our soul’ and ‘galvanise our groove’, please email me.”

Lizzie explained that the group consists of 14 women of various ages and not all read music.

“We have great fun and are very light hearted,” she added.

Janet Stoney plays the piano but for a number of years the group sang a capella.

The choir meets at 6.30pm in the Church Rooms on the first, third and fifth Fridays of each month during school term times.
