Scouts to embark on Explorer Belt once in a lifetime trip

Wetherby District Explorer Scouts are running an ‘Explorer Belt’ trip to the Faroe Islands in July/August.

A spokesman for the group said that this is the challenge of a lifetime for Explorer Scouts and Network over the age of 16.

“They will undertake an international expedition over ten days that brings a real understanding of a different country, its people and way of life, by travelling through that country, working as a small team, to complete a series of projects and, most importantly, by meeting local people,” said the group’s spokesman.

The Scouts are also setting a challenge to local residents.

People can test their knowledge of all that has happened in 2011 at the group’s Big Quiz 2011 on Friday, January 20 at Boston Spa village hall at 7.45pm.

From this the group hopes to raise funds for the trip with a donation also going to support Martin House.

Tickets are available at £8 per person (max team size is eight) and includes supper, by contacting Mick on 07889 751626. A licensed bar is also available.
