School shows life really does begin at 40!

Youngsters at Primrose Lane Primary School in Boston Spa marked the school’s 40th anniversary with a nostalgic-themed school play.

Year six children took to the stage last week in the all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza with three performances altogether, two of which were sold out.

Derek Gallamore, teacher at the school, who helped organise the event, said he was ‘delighted’ with the children’s performances and the effort that had gone in to making the costumes: “It was a real team effort and parents and staff have all been really great at helping out. We focused on the cultural impact the last 40 years had on people’s lives as well as the impact it has had on the school since its opening in 1971.”

Anecdotes from parents who attended the school were included in the sketch, Derek said.

The cast also sang a range of popular songs from Abba to Michael Jackson as part of the themed production.

“We have shows every year, but this year’s show seemed to be extra special, a lot of humour was involved. I would like to thank everyone for their involvement in this project.”
