Scarcroft Parish Council: the parish council met for the November meeting now held monthly. Police Constable Support officer Tiffany Greensmith in attendance gave crime details, two thefts from a building site on Ling lane and attempted vehicle theft. Also note, 14 speeding tickets issued on the A58 through Scarcroft during the month. The minutes of the October meeting were approved. The Leeds City / Parish Council Charter documents and highway programme for Harewood ward were noted. Three planning applications were dealt with and comments sent to the planners. The field transfer has now been completed. The 2014/15 precept will be decided in January. Finance was dealt with and accounts duly passed for payment. Difficulty transferring the back details continues. Coun Ruth Middleton brought the members up to date with Scarcroft Neighbourhood Development Plan. Reports were received regarding the village hall, the recent upper night had been successful. It is to be hoped that agreement can be made as to what the parish council will be responsible for in the future. The council was sad to note the Scarcroft Croquet Club has closed due to weekday parking problems at the npower site. Various publications were received and noted. The next meeting will be on January 20, 2014

Scarcroft Women’s Institute: the November meeting was a Christmas craft night. Decorations made of fabric. Two sisters from Huddersfield, unfortunately, their mother who does the main decorations was unable to be with them. They demonstrated the start of one fabric decoration and passing it round. Also lavender and Christmas cones. They also had jewellery that they and mum make all the year round, even when they go on holiday, people actually purchase items on the beach! Margaret Midgley gave a vote of thanks. Tea & cakes served by Paddy Proctor. Diary Dates; WI Christmas coffee morning at the village hall Saturday, December 7 10am-noon, coffee, mince pies, stalls and raffle. Scarcroft WI going to Caring for Life at Bramhope December 12. WI group Christmas carol service Monday, December 16 7pm at East Keswick Methodist Chapel. WI carol singing night round Scarcroft December 19, meet at the New Inn 7pm. Scarcroft WI trip to Chatsworth House: members and friends travelled with Tony Broome in the Britannia coach, in good weather to Chatsworth House, in Derbyshire, coffee stop on the way. At Chatsworth were the Christmas market stalls and then into the house to see the wonderful decorations, also gardens, trees in autumn colours and the water cascade. Leaving at 3.30pm travelled to Heath Cottage near Wakefield for an evening meal. A wonderful day out organised by Margaret Midgley.

Scarcroft Christmas tree: the Christmas tree is now in place on the green in front of the New Inn. The official light switch on will be by PCSO Tiff Greensmith on December 7 at 7pm Music provided by Kippax Band. Carols and hot chocolate.

Scarcroft Ladies Luncheon Club: the Christmas lunch is on December 2 at the Scarcroft Village Hall noon.
