Scarcroft Ladies Luncheon Club: correction, due to the bank holiday, the date of the May luncheon was incorrectly given in last weeks Wetherby News. The correct date is Monday, May 13 at noon in Scarcroft Village Hall.

Women’s Institute Yorkshire Area Meeting: the annual meeting of the WI Yorkshire Group took place on Saturday at Pudsey Civic Hall. It was well attended, including seven Scarcroft members, the business meeting took place in the morning. Following lunch, Mrs Leslie Smith gave a very interesting talk about Ann Boleyn who most will recall from history, she was one of Henry VIII’s wives. Everybody left with a piece of birthday cake.

Coffee Morning Martin House: a coffee morning took place on Sunday following church, at the Callister Hall, Bardsey organised by and involving girls from Scarcroft and Bardsey and East Keswick Rangers a newly formed group of local girls, all who have progressed through Brownies and Guides, supporting Martin House Children’s Hospice

Scarcroft Daffodils: following a slow start due to the late spring the daffodils are now in full bloom. Notably, alongside the A58 beyond Beech Grove Farm, these were individually planted quite a few years ago by the late Billy Goodall of Beech Grove Farm. Most other areas have been planted over the years by the parish council and helpers, including children, using donated bulbs. Thanks for all their efforts, which can now be enjoyed by all.

Leeds Festival Bramham Park: application forms for the Scarcroft tickets are now available, limited to bona- fida Scarcroft residents on the electoral roll only. For details and application form contact Sandra on 0113 2892650.

St George’s Day Celebration: the annual Bardsey celebration of St George’s Day on April 23 was well supported by Bardsey and Scarcroft residents and took place at the Callister Hall. Refreshments laid on and provided by local ladies together with the piano expertly played by Judith Unwin, produced a very enjoyable afternoon with nice weather.

Scarcroft & District Croquet Club: a start of season open day was held at the alongside the cricket ground at the npower site on Wetherby Road Scarcroft on Sunday. Come along, give it a try, we will show you how, no equipment required, just a pair of flat shoes, easy to play, learn and good fun.
