Pound bus fare boost to economy

Yorkshire Coastliner introduced a special celebratory £1 fare to and from Tadcaster last Saturday on Coastliner and Tadfaster buses.

All journeys for any customers boarding or leaving the bus at any stops within Tadcaster and Woodlands, on that day, enjoyed the £1 fare offer to or from any other location on the Coastliner and Tadfaster network.

Alex Hornby, Transdev’s Chief Executive, said: “We were keen to welcome as many Tadcaster residents on board by offering a one day only £1 single fare for any bus journey to or from Tadcaster on Tadfaster or Coastliner.

“We hoped this encouraged residents to make the most of these big improvements; as well as encouraging more people to visit the town.

“We really want to do our bit to help and support all in Tadcaster during this time of recovery. More and better bus services will improve the town’s economy and wellbeing.”

“This was good news for the people of our town”, said County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, local member for Tadcaster.

“We continue to look for ways to support residents and Tadcaster’s economy while the painstaking and complex operation of reconstructing the main bridge continues over the coming months.

“We welcome this initiative as a good example of how the county council is working closely with bus operators, providing pump-priming to improve commercial services throughout the county.”

Tadfaster is the new direct bus service introduced by Yorkshire Coastliner and North Yorkshire County Council, which provides Tadcaster residents with a direct link to York along the A64.
