Police call in bomb squad

BOMB disposal experts were called to a house in Harrogate after the discovery of a potentially explosive device.

Police officers attending the property on Baldwin Street in connection with an unrelated investigation, found the suspicious item in the course of their search.

After evacuating the building and placing a 100-metre cordon around it, officers advised other residents of the street to remain indoors with their windows and curtains closed.

However, investigation of the device confirmed it was not dangerous and the cordon around the property was lifted two hours later.
