The popular celebration of the arts returns to the town this year with a Showcase event planned for Saturday September 4.

Spokesman and volunteer Ellen Dutton said: “Since 1977, Wetherby Arts Festival has hosted countless performances of dance, comedy, acting, music and more across the town to share creativity with our residents.

“This year, we would love for local talent and performers to get involved in a one-night performance to illustrate what a wonderful place Wetherby is.

“We are introducing an open call for amateur and professional performers and creators to perform at a Wetherby showcase event with a provisional date of Saturday September 4.

“We are hoping to have an array of performances for the show, displaying the talent in the area.

“We are completely open to any kind of music, dance, acting, comedy, or other entertainment that people would like to perform.”

To apply for a place at the Wetherby showcase event, organisers want to see an audition video of what people can do.

“This video should be no more than three minutes long and needs to clearly demonstrate the talent that you want to display,” added Ellen.

“There is no age restriction and no limit to how many people can be in a group.”

Anyone interested should fill out an application form by following the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc9flh-9R74tm8Ft-6Kbah_jgAvJulY2j9SyzhpVV69_gSslw/viewform?usp=pp_url

The deadline to fill out this form and send an audition video is 5pm on Monday June 7.

Ellen advised that videos should be a maximum three minutes long, preferably uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo with a link provided or alternatively uploaded on the application form.

Anyone under the age of 18 you must have parental permission to enter.

People must be prepared to perform live in front of an audience and have a performance prepared by the event date.

“We will be holding event rehearsals in August for us to see the content of planned performance,” added Ellen.

“You must be able to attend at least one of these rehearsals to be able to take part in the event (dates TBC).
