Christmas services at St Mary’s Church: on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24 the church is holding a Crib Service at 6pm, and the traditional midnight Holy Communion at 11.30pm. On Christmas Day Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8am, with a Family Service at 10am.

Christmas services at St Andrew’s Church, Newton Kyme: Holy Communion will be celebrated on Christmas Day at 9am.

Christmas services at Tadcaster Methodist Church: the church is holding a Candlelight Service on Sunday, December 23 at 6pm. On Christmas Eve there’s a Communion service at 11.30pm, and on Christmas Day itself there’s a celebration for all ages at 9.30am. All these services will be conducted by the Minister, Rev Amy Walters.

Christmas services at St Joseph’s church: the church is holding a service on nine lessons and carols on Sunday, December 22 at 7pm. Next day, Monday, December 24 is a Vigil Mass at 6pm. On Christmas Day mass will be celebrated at 10am.

Stutton Christmas Show: don’t forget Stutton’s own show on Friday, December 21, at 7.30pm in St Aidans, Stutton. It stars the Stutton Songsters, comedians, poets and the Boston Spa Boys Band. Seasonal refreshments will be available, and there will be a raffle. Tickets cost £2 at the door, with proceeds going to St. Aidans. Christmas Masquerade Ball: Ceroc Xtra are putting on a special annual Christmas Ball at the Riley-Smith Hall on Friday, December 21 at 8pm. Get glammed up, put on your fancy frocks and hide away with a delicate mask as you join in. They promise a sparkling reception at the start of the night, hot turkey and stuffing rolls at the midway point, and stacks of chocolates and sweets to keep you dancing all night long! Gary B’s Christmas Ball: enjoy freestyle modern jive, the licenced bar, and simply socialising in the Riley-Smith Hall on Friday, December 28 from 8pm to midnight. Music from DJ Gary B. Open Mic Night at Tadcaster Social Club: Friday, December 28 is the night for all musicians, poets, singers, mime artists (and Cliffy) to perform. As it’s this time of the year again they’ll be mostly doing festive tunes and the like. Get yourself along to the night and have fun watching singing, playing or performing. It starts at 8.30pm and it’s free.

New Year’s Eve at Tadcaster Social Club: tickets for the New Year’s Eve celebrations are on sale in the club on Chapel Street now. They are £6 each and the numbers are strictly limited, as always they go very quickly, so act now while you can. This year’s entertainment is a fantastic local band called Mojo, most of the band’s members previously played in the band Protocol, and they’ll perform a wide range of music from the fifties up to present.

New Year’s Eve dance at the Riley-Smith Hall: the hall has hosted a New Year’s Eve dance for many years, and 2012 is no exception. The dance is organised by Rayners Rock and Roll. It promises to be a brilliant night, featuring one of the top bands in the country, The Bobcats. Tickets are £17.50 each including a buffet supper, but we are told that sales have been excellent and that they will probably be sold out before Christmas.
