A group of Wetherby school
children were visited by a Collingham dentist to learn the importance of healthy teeth as part of National Smile Month.
A class at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School had a lesson from Dr Greg Cadman of
Collingham Dental Care last Wednesday.
To teach them how to avoid the dentist’s drill, the children learned about tooth decay, what foods contribute to it and how to avoid it. Dr Cadman also gave them a lesson in how to brush their teeth properly. At the end of the class, the youngsters went away with goody bags of toothbrushes, toothpastes and stickers.
Collingham dentist Dr Greg Cadman said: “As we only get one set of teeth, it’s so important
to teach children how to look after theirs early on. By promoting good oral health care in a fun and interactive way, I hope to encourage more children to look after their teeth. Keeping your own teeth is more valuable than any incentive from the tooth fairy!”
National Smile Month has been running from May 15 - June 15 – see www.nationalsmilemonth.org
