Harrogate Theatre has raised the curtain on the first wedding in its 111-year history.
In what was described as “a truly spectacular affair with plenty of showbusiness flair”, Keith Humphrey and Jude Hutchinson were married on stage in the main auditorium, watched from the stalls by relatives and friends.
Performances and readings were given by the page boy and bridesmaids and the whole wedding party gave curtain calls at the end, before relaxing in the Circle Bar.
Mr Humphrey, who is managing director of a Wakefield-based financial services company, wrote Boiling Frog, a musical that successfully premiered at the theatre two weeks ago.
The couple’s wedding ceremony was made possible only recently, when North Yorkshire County Council granted the theatre a wedding licence.
