Yorkshire pub company Ainsty Inns, part of Ainsty Group LLP and the company behind three of the region’s best-rated country pubs, has signed up as a main sponsor of the annual Wetherby 10k.

The race, which is hosted by Wetherby Runners AC is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and will take place on Sunday September 6.

To mark the special event Ainsty Inns’ Wetherby pub, The Swan & Talbot will be offering a special runners’ race day brunch as well as a post-race refuelling lunch.

The menu has been created to provide nutrients essential for slow energy release pre-race and plenty of locally sourced pub lunch classics for post-race recovery.

Ainsty Group partner, Antony Pratt said: “We are delighted to be supporting The Wetherby 10k race which is now in its tenth year and has become a key event in the local calendar.

“As a company, we endeavour to partner local events and businesses wherever possible to ensure that our customers receive the best produce, and being able to provide our support for such a popular community event is a great way to support the community.”

Rob Gray from Wetherby Runners AC said: “We are thrilled that Ainsty Inns have decided to sponsor our cracking little Yorkshire run.

“Events like these aren’t possible without the support of local businesses and the tenth anniversary celebration promises to be a great day for all involved.”

Every year the race sees a thousand runners competing at Wetherby Racecourse and has become a favourite with runners in Yorkshire over the past decade.

The Swan and Talbot is the first pub in Wetherby to create a bespoke menu for runners.

The race is a chip timed event with a race limit of 1000 runners and is now regarded as a good warm up for October’s Yorkshire Marathon.

Course Records currently stand at Darran Bilton with 31.53, which was set in 2010, and Tracey Morris who recorded 35.25 in 2006.

The event is part of the The Leeds Race Series a series of 15 races hosted by Leeds based Athletics Clubs

It will set out from the Racecourse at 2pm on September 6. More information at
