A post mortem has been held into the death of a Wakefield man on October 4 at Sainsbury’s Wincanton-run depot at Sherburn-in-Elmet.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman today said that although the cause of the man’s death has not yet been confirmed, a preliminary report reveals a possible natural cause of death.
“At this stage, the coroner has opened an investigation pending further enquiries,” added the spokesman.
“A decision will be made at a later date whether an inquest is to be opened.
“A health and safety investigation by Selby District Council remains ongoing.”
The man’s name has not been made public, following a request of his family.
Police were called to the loading area of the Wincanton distribution centre at around 8.30am on October 4 following a collision with a shunter vehicle and a pedestrian, a Wincanton employee.
The man, who was aged in his fifties and was from the Wakefield area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
