Linton Bridge reopens to traffic after closurer
Linton Bridge has fully reopened to traffic today following a burst water mains which closed the road over the weekend.
A Yorkshire Water spokesman explained that a pipe burst on Linton Road last Sunday afternoon.
“We sent a team of engineers out to repair it on the same day,” said a spokesman for the company.
“Access to the bridge is back to normal now. We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The historic Linton Bridge, linking Collingham and Linton, was closed for 20 months while engineers carried out £5.1m of repairs caused to its foundations during Storm Eva in December 2015.
It’s reopening following the long closure was celebrated when a huge party was held, reuniting villagers, in September 2017.
