Athletes who are not afraid to get muddy are being called to sign up for the Major Series.
British Military Fitness (BMF) is staging the seventh annual series of obstacle course 5 and 10km runs and will be at Bramham Park on Sunday.
“What sets the Major Series apart is the British Military Fitness instructors, who have not only designed the course, are stationed around the obstacles to encourage and challenge you,” said a spokesman.
“There will also be an array of muddy bogs, thick woods and river crossings that surround the park, as well as the infamous giant slide, spider’s web and the dreaded ice crawl.”
Held in the stately grounds of Bramham Park, the Major’s northern event features over 40 different obstacles and promises to be a muddy and energetic affair.
There are two courses; a 10km for the more advanced racers or a 5km race which is perfect for the less experienced challenger.
The first wave of race goers set off at 9.30am and every 15 minutes after that.
British Military Fitness has spent the last 15 years developing its outdoor group fitness classes and now holds 400 sessions a week in over 140 parks nationwide.
Combining professional ability and enthusiasm, BMF aims to provide an effective workout, improved fitness and a good laugh.
“Training outside, BMF instructors work to a standard not a formula – every session is unique and designed to challenge, offering a variety of exercises and terrain,” added the spokesman.
“Each class is tailored to match the ability and fitness level of the members and to make full use of the outdoor space available.”
BMF says each one of its 400-plus instructors has a military PT background which is applied to the sessions, along with the renowned military banter.
